About Johnathan

Johnathan (He/Him/His) brings to the Rainbow Foundation nearly 15 years of leadership and development experience within financial services and higher education. He is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the Foundations dedication to the LGBTQ+ community and allies by encouraging an inclusive business environment and highlighting Sacramento as a city leading the way for diverse and equitable businesses.

Johnathan is contagiously optimistic, a natural collaborator, and strongly inclined towards empathy and relationship building. He considers himself lucky to live an authentic life with his partner of nearly 18 years and their two small Shih Tzu’s, Kooka and Gisella. But it wasn’t always that way. Being different in the small town he grew up in was not always easy. Through life experiences at work, home, and everywhere in between, he has learned that DEI work is not passive; it’s not a moment in time or simply a phrase you use. To truly embrace DEI, it must be lived and actionable. You must be able to see and hear the actions. DEI is a part of the culture, and the culture must view diversity as valuable and value-adding. It does not detract or cause harm. He believes these statements wholly and feels lucky to feel the way he does. He attributes his differences to have shaped the way he views the world and his passionate approach to DEI partnership and work. In his free time, he likes to exercise, write, eat good food, dance like nobody is watching, hike and spend time with his family and friends.

Johnathan was recently the Senior Manager of Talent Development at the Foundation for California Community Colleges and is an Organizational Change and Leadership Consultant.

Johnathan has a doctoral degree in Organizational Change and Leadership from USC, an MBA from Hawaii Pacific University, and a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from CSU Chico. He is also a licensed Realtor with Express Realty and Investments, located out of Elk Grove.
